California’s Newsom wants health coverage for all Illegal Aliens

Posted: 10 Jan 2022 06:23 PM PST

The AP reports:
Backed by soaring revenues amid the pandemic, California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday proposed a budget that would pay for the health care of all the state's low-income residents living in the country illegally, while cutting taxes for businesses and halting a scheduled increase in the gas tax later this summer.
There's more:
California taxpayers already pay for the health care of young adults and people 50 and over living in the country illegally, provided they meet certain income requirements. Now, Newsom wants California to become the first state to cover all adults who are living in the country illegally, a move that would eventually cost $2.2 billion per year. "We're doing something that no other state has done," Newsom said.
Only 2.2 billion they claim...

CTU union head accuses Chicago mayor of being ‘relentlessly stupid’ in her position on reopening schools

Posted: 10 Jan 2022 06:41 AM PST

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Chicago Teachers Union President Jesse Sharkey on Monday accused Mayor Lori Lightfoot of being "relentlessly stupid" in her dealings with the union and in trying to reach a deal to restart schools. "We feel like we're at a point where we don't have enough at the table to be able to go back to the people who, frankly, have sacrificed a lot at this point, and confidently say, 'This is something that can help us ensure our safety,'" Sharkey said. "The mayor is being relentless, but she's being relentlessly stupid, relentlessly stubborn."

Walensky Dodges on How Many U.S. Covid Deaths Are Actually Caused by Covid

Posted: 10 Jan 2022 04:30 AM PST

The National Review reports:
During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, CDC director Rochelle Walensky failed to clarify how many of the 836,000 U.S. patients whose deaths were attributed to Covid in the last two years had underlying medical conditions.
There's more:
"How many of the 836,000 deaths in the U.S. linked to Covid are from Covid or how many are with Covid but they had other co-morbidities. Do you have that breakdown?" anchor Bret Baier asked. "Yes, of course, with Omicron we're following that very carefully, our death registry takes a few weeks to collect and Omicron has been with us for just a few weeks but those data will be forthcoming," Walensky replied.
